The purpose of this page is to provide athletes, parents, coaches, and all organizations with information they can use to assist them with developing their return-to-activity programming in the context of COVID-19. Many of the guidelines set forth rely upon rules and regulations set forth by public health authorities established in the state of New Jersey, which can be different different from other states. In addition, we all must recognize that there will be other logistical and implementation challenges for activity organizers, participants and their families given COVID-19.
The information in this page is NOT intended or implied to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. All content, including text, graphics, images, and information, are provided for general informational purposes only. The knowledge and circumstances around COVID-19 are changing constantly and, as such, Central Jersey Futsal makes no representation and assumes no responsibility for the completeness of this information.
Further, you should seek advice from medical professionals and/or public health officials in your area if you have specific questions. These guidelines address only early phases of return-to-futsal play and additional guidelines may, or may not, follow as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve. New Jersey will have a phased approach to reopening businesses and easing of social distancing requirements. Youth sports may not be a high priority for state officials, or even addressed, which poses significant challenges for those planning a return to youth futsal activities.
USYS State Associations and related soccer/futsal organizations need to be aware and adhere to all Federal, State and Local guidelines and requirements. Finally, although the young and healthy may be subject to less severe cases of COVID-19, every case of this disease is potentially life-altering or deadly, particularly in those with risk factors that may occur within our communities. Health consequences may be long-standing and only apparent weeks after initial infection and recovery. Until COVID-19 is either eradicated, a vaccine is developed, or a cure is found, there is no way of eliminating the risk of infection.

Central Jersey Futsal recognizes that risk of exposure to transmittable diseases can’t be 100% eliminated and has composed the following guidelines and protocols to maximize the safety of all participants, spectators, and staff. These protocols are obtained from an extensive network of guidelines and are what we believe the ‘Best Practices’ set forth by health, safety and government agencies. We primarily used guidance from the CDC and State Health Departments as well as US Soccer, and NJYS, the national and state governing bodies for soccer.
The goal of these guidelines is to deliver to all involved the safest gameday environment and experience possible. These Best Practices and the exact methods for implementing these guidelines and recommendations may vary for every Central Jersey Futsal league, tournament and event, as well as each facility where competitions are held. Executing Central Jersey Futsal leagues tournaments and all events, with Return to Futsal Play initiatives will require a coordinated and cooperative effort between State Soccer/Futsal Associations, Central Jersey Futsal, clubs, teams, referees, coaches, players, parents/guardians, and many others. While clubs and coaches are tasked to create and maintain a safe environment, parents/guardians are the only ones who can make the decision for their child to participate. |
